I agree this should become the new draft edit tool. And I see it super useful also when dealing with big imported DXF files and you have to move a segment of the shape (or also to add a line?). This is because I see new edit tool as a mix between a "open group" tool and inkscape selector that edit subobjects. Do we plan to activate the 'editpoints' only inside the new edit tool, or could them be activated also outside the new edit tool? I think the second since u know I'd love if the few "editpoints" could be set when selecting a object (obviously letting the user disable it) and have the same behaviour inside the edit tool, like other command do. I still have with a question, and I'd like to ask for help for the answer since I don't have it clear. Sooo I'd like to know which way we are going to not waste so much efforts. I understand that this way we are creating two very different tools. (Windows are a good example: I'd like to have just 3 editpoints: one point to change position, one to modify width and one to mod height). I'd like to give custom editing to every arch object. It's simple and rough, I know, but I like it's behaviour. Take as a reference the arc editing mode of this PR: you can edit by 3points or by center radius angles, or pressing "i" inverting the arc. My proposal to auto enable on selection (if the user wanted) was related to what I was "developing" in the old draft edit: a more customized tool for every entity, where edit point (not more than 4 for the edited object) could control sometimes the shapes, sometimes the parameters. Should be very useful also to work on big imported 2d drawings, that at the moment is a pain.
